Iran’s Motorbike Murders (Sky – Foreign Matters)
A Tehran university professor is the latest victim in the covert war against
Iran’s nuclear programme.
32 year old Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, was killed after two men on a motor bike
attached at least one magnetic bomb to his car. Two other people were injured
in the explosion. The assassins escaped.
Mr Roshan worked at the Natanz uranium enrichment plant in central Iran and
also at a university in the north of the capital.
His death follows a pattern of targeted killings; he is the fourth nuclear
scientist to die in bomb attacks in two years.
As in the past the Iranian government has laid the blame at the door of the
Israelis and Americans. There’s no proof of who is behind the covert war, but
Israel has made it clear it intends to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear
weapons by any means necessary. Iran insists all of its nuclear activities are
for peaceful purposes but has hampered efforts by the UN’s Atomic Agency to
monitor its nuclear programme.
The attack on Mr Roshan is similar to those those which killed a nuclear
scientist in January 2010, and two others in November 2010. A scientist who
